Shopify Website Designer UK A store that sells,
not just a theme that looks good

Most stores that underperform look fine. The money leaks underneath: a catalogue Google cannot read, a checkout that fights the customer, shipping rules that do not match how you trade. We design and build Shopify stores from the catalogue up, so the store sells as well as it looks.

What you are actually hiring

The theme is an afternoon. The store is everything underneath it.

Anyone can put "Shopify designer" on a profile. The firm charging two hundred pounds to recolour a free theme uses the same three words as the firm that can move a whole trading store between platforms without losing a ranking. Tony Cooper's guide to telling the builders from the theme-flippers sets out the difference. The short version is that the visible part of the job is the smallest part.

The design work covers the parts that decide whether the store sells: the catalogue and variant structure that lets customers and Google find your products, the checkout and shipping rules that match how you actually trade, the product feed your ads will run from and, if you are coming from another platform, the migration that brings your rankings with you. The theme sits on top of all of it, and it is the easy part.

  • Store design and build: a custom Shopify theme, not a recoloured template
  • Catalogue architecture: products, variants and collections structured properly
  • Checkout, payments and shipping configured to how you actually sell
  • Migration from Magento, WooCommerce, Wix or EKM with rankings protected
  • SEO foundations built in from the first page, not bolted on after

The work, not the portfolio

Mock-ups prove a designer can decorate. Trading stores prove the rest of it works.

One build arrived as an emergency: an EKM store whose checkout was failing, twenty-four thousand customers, and a product export no standard tool could read. We moved the business to Shopify, converting the customer database in full and importing the records the client chose, because no clean path existed and one had to be built.

Another arrived with three thousand "products" that were really about a hundred, with every size and colour split into its own thin, dead page. Restructuring that catalogue is what Shopify design actually looks like: nothing you could photograph, everything the store's sales depended on.

We work through the Shopify Admin API and the command line rather than clicking through the dashboard one product at a time. That is why a restructure that would cost a fortnight of billable admin elsewhere is a script here, and why a build comes together quickly without corners being cut.

What it costs

The price is on the page, so you know it before the first call.

A complete Shopify store, with design, build, up to 100 products, and the payment gateway and shipping configured, starts at £2,490. Larger catalogues and custom functionality are priced on what is actually involved, and the full packages are on the Shopify website design page. Moving an existing store is a migration rather than a build, and that starts at £2,490.

What the price never includes is a surprise. You will know what you are getting and what it costs before any work starts. If what you need is smaller than what we sell, such as a theme tweak or a one-off fix, we will say so and point you somewhere sensible.

Three questions to ask any Shopify designer

From Tony Cooper's guide to choosing one, and answered for ourselves, since you are here.

"Can you show me a store you've built that's actually trading?"

Yes: stores taking real orders, not portfolio mock-ups. We would rather walk you through live work on a call than send a gallery of screenshots, because a trading store is the only evidence that the parts a screenshot cannot show actually work.

"How do you handle my existing Google rankings in a migration?"

A complete URL map before anything moves, a 301 redirect for every page that carries value, and the metadata preserved. It is the same discipline on every migration we take on. Your rankings took years to earn, and the move is planned around keeping them.

"When something breaks at checkout, who fixes it, and how fast?"

We do, and quickly. There is no ticket queue and no account manager relaying messages to someone you have never met.
